From SAP Commerce Cloud to connected enterprise processes

Digital commerce is becoming much more than a storefront.

SAP Commerce Cloud is increasingly positioned around unified commerce, with a strong focus on AI-enabled selling, real-time inventory visibility, order orchestration, B2B self-service and consistent experiences across channels. SAP also emphasises composable storefronts and integration with enterprise systems through APIs and connected business processes.

For companies, however, the real value does not come from the commerce layer alone.

A modern commerce platform needs to exchange data reliably with ERP, inventory, logistics, pricing, customer and fulfilment systems. Without that integration layer, many processes still depend on manual handovers, duplicated data or disconnected workflows.

This is where we see an important role for ZenLab.

Our focus is on developing integrations and extensions that connect SAP environments with existing enterprise IT infrastructure. In practice, this can include:

  • connecting SAP Commerce Cloud with ERP and back-office systems,

  • exposing real-time inventory, pricing and order information,

  • automating order and fulfilment workflows,

  • integrating B2B self-service processes,

  • developing custom extensions and services around SAP environments,

  • using SAP BTP as an integration and development layer where appropriate.

SAP’s current direction reinforces this need. Its unified commerce approach relies on connected, real-time data, while SAP Commerce Cloud increasingly supports AI-assisted buying, personalised experiences and connected order management.

For us, the opportunity is clear: not simply to implement another front end, but to build the connections that allow commerce, ERP and operational systems to work as one process.

Less switching between systems, fewer manual steps, and better use of enterprise data where business actually happens.
